The Nationalist Party Covid Action Team, in a statement on Tuesday, said that the success of the national vaccination programme against the Covid-19 pandemic depends on important factors, including the logistics used during the protocol.
The Nationalist Party called on the Government for absolute transparency in the national vaccination programme.
Efficiency, quality assurance and health protection during vaccinations are a priority, the PN said.
It stressed that vaccinations in Gozo should be provided through a better system, “for example, people such as Gozitan police, are being sent to Malta to get the vaccine, which is completely absurd and reflects serious shortcomings in the vaccination programme.”
“Serious deficiencies in the vaccine roll-out system need to be addressed, such as why the elderly or vulnerable people are being left behind or missed due to data problems,” the PN said.
It also highlighted the fact that venues allocated for the administration of the vaccine must respect public health rules in order to avoid overcrowding, together with more effective communication between the Government and stakeholders so that planning is done in a timely manner.
The Covid Action Team of the Nationalist Party reiterated the need to use family doctors and pharmacies in the community, which it said, are important tools for speeding up the national vaccination programme.
